Minister Glover announces funding for the Societe franco-manitobaine


WINNIPEG, MANITOBA--(Marketwired - June 24, 2014) - Department of Canadian Heritage

The Government of Canada is providing $19,967 in funding for the Société franco-manitobaine in support of the coordination of artistic and cultural activities at the Forum des jeunes ambassadeurs de la francophonie des Amériques. Forum participants, including the facilitators, speakers and organizers, will have an opportunity to enjoy music, improvisation and films. Manitoba's Francophones and Francophiles will also be invited to take part in these activities to meet and talk with the young ambassadors.

The Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, made the announcement today at the Forum's opening ceremony. The Government of Canada is providing funding through the Community Life component of the Development of Official-Language Communities Program.

  • The Société franco-manitobaine, in partnership with the Université de Saint-Boniface, is host of the Forum des jeunes ambassadeurs de la francophonie des Amériques 2014, being held in St. Boniface, Manitoba, from June 23 to 30.
  • An initiative of the Centre de la francophonie des Amériques, the forum is for Francophones of the Americas aged 18 to 35.
  • The forum participants come from Canada, the United States, the Caribbean and Latin America.
