Government of Canada supports renovation of building


MAHONE BAY, NOVA SCOTIA--(Marketwired - Jan. 8, 2015) - Department of Canadian Heritage

The Government of Canada will provide $29,848 to the Mahone Bay Centre Society under the Legacy Fund of the Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage program.

Gerald Keddy, Member of Parliament (South Shore-St. Margaret's), announced the funding today on behalf of the Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages.

Quick Facts

  • The Mahone Bay Centre first opened as a school in 1914. It was transformed into a community and arts centre in 2001.
  • The funding will support renovations to the Centre, including renovation of a tower, replacement of a flat roof, refurbishment of front stairs and ceiling restoration in two rooms.
  • The Centre is used for a variety of activities, including educational programming, as well as drawing, printmaking and painting sessions.
