Investors Fuel Searchles Discovery Technology With an Additional Round of Angel Funding

Social Tools Developed by Searchles for Online Media Serve as Catalyst for Connecting Like-Minded Readers, Building Trusted Networks Within User-Communities

WASHINGTON, DC--(Marketwire - July 1, 2008) - Searchles® -- the intelligent social search and social networking platform that gets smarter every time you use it -- today announced that they have lined up an additional round of Angel funding following closely on the heels of the newly launched social solution for online media companies, Searchles Discovery®. This investment brings the total funding for Searchles platform close to $2 million. This set of intelligent tools and widgets resolves the connectivity issues within a site's community of readers by analyzing the content that users are consuming and connecting them to users with similar interests -- facilitating the networks of trusted peers that media sites are striving to build in order to engage readers as well as serve increasingly targeted advertising.

Searchles Discovery, based on underlying search technology and natural language processing developed by Searchles, automatically extracts relevant keywords from the content a reader consumes and assembles a related tag cloud widget for their profile page. The user-generated tag cloud -- which quickly shows a reader's relevant interests to others -- links through to a search by keyword of the partner site's content. Based on high frequency of shared tags, the widget also surfaces a list of related users -- linked through to corresponding profile pages -- sparking increased social connections and a larger set of extracted data for both readers and pieces of content on which to base targeted ads.
