Investors Seek M&A Opportunities in Managed Care, Focus of iiBIG Forum

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - September 10, 2008) - iiBIG presents the Investment and M&A Opportunities in Managed Care conference, scheduled for November 17-18, 2008 in New York City.

Despite the slow-down in global M&A, activity in the health care industry is robust and on the rise. According to a recent industry report, a total of 265 mergers and acquisitions were announced in the health care industry during the second quarter of 2008, a 19% increase from the 223 deals announced in the prior quarter, and the $85.5 billion committed to fund the second quarter marks a 209% increase over the prior quarter's $27.7 billion

Health care industry buyers making acquisitions for strategic reasons have found themselves in bidding wars with investment groups -- and health insurers themselves have become willing to take on greater levels of debt. MCOs are buying up healthcare operations big and small to expand into new geographies, diversify product lines, and jump-start specialty operations. In an environment where managed care plans are struggling with costs, that trend is expected to intensify throughout this year and 2009.

This year's conference will feature the latest market updates, investment opportunities, and industry leaders such as keynote speaker Steve Wiggins, Managing Director, Essex Woodlands Health Ventures and founder and former chairman and CEO of Oxford Health Plans. Attendees will also hear from leading players in this market such as Bank of America; BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee; Bravo Health; Camden Partners; Center for Medicaid & Medicare Services; Deutsche Bank; Goldman Sachs; Gorman Health Group; HealthSpring; Healthways; Lazard Middle Market; Oppenheimer; Standard & Poor's; Summit Partners; United Behavioral Health; UnitedHealth Group; Universal American; Venture Behavioral Health; Water Street Healthcare Partners and more.

Early conference sponsors include Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal LLP, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Matrix Medical Network, Ernst & Young, and the Gorman Health Group, LLC.
