Invitation: Official Opening of Two New Library and Archives Canada Exhibitions-Literary Landscapes of French Canada and Cultural Celebrities of Quebec

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - April 19, 2007) - As part of the Quebec Scene and in celebration of World Book Day, Library and Archives Canada invites the public to the official opening of two sensational new exhibitions entitled Literary Landscapes of French Canada and Cultural Celebrities of Quebec. The official opening will be held on Monday, April 23, 2007 at 5:30 p.m. at Library and Archives Canada, 395 Wellington Street in Ottawa.

Literary Landscapes of French Canada is a journey across Canada through the works and archival documents of Francophone authors from New Brunswick, Quebec, Ontario, western Canada and the Northwest Territories. Some of these authors include Michel Tremblay, Robert Dickson, Gabrielle Roy and Simone Chaput.

Cultural Celebrities of Quebec is an exhibition of portraits in recognition of Quebec artists from all disciplines who have made exceptional contributions to Quebec culture - Oliver Jones, Jean-Paul Riopelle and Maureen Forrester are a few of the celebrities exhibited.

The event will be followed at 7:30 p.m. by Les mots d'ici, a Quebec Scene reading with Jean Barbe, Nicolas Dickner, Jocelyne Saucier and Melanie Vincelette, moderated by Jean Fugere.
