iovation Webinar Details How Device Proliferation Changes the Online Fraud Landscape

Fraud Prevention Leaders Share Latest Strategies for Preventing Cybercrime in July 16th Webinar

PORTLAND, OR--(Marketwired - Jul 9, 2013) - iovation, stopping Internet fraud and identifying good online customers with the world's most comprehensive device reputation database, today announced an upcoming webinar addressing how rapid consumer device adoption has forced businesses to change how they fight online fraud. Max Anhoury, iovation's Vice President of Global Sales, and Mark Bish, Senior Product Manager - Fraud Solutions at iovation technology partner and global information services company Experian, will discuss this changing business landscape during the webinar entitled, "Fighting Online Fraud in the New Age of Device Proliferation." The webinar will take place on Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at 7:00 am PDT / 3:00 pm BST.

"No longer are cybercriminals just sitting behind a desktop. Today, their weapons of choice could be everything from a laptop to a smartphone to a smart TV," said Anhoury. "The constant introduction of new devices can burden online businesses as they try to figure out which transactions are trustworthy and which are not. When we combine iovation's device reputation intelligence with partners' transactional data, we provide online businesses with a detailed and rich virtual identity which is very useful when sorting good orders from bad."

Surveys conducted by the Pew Internet & American Life Project reveal the recent massive adoption of mobile devices. In September 2012, the institute found that 45 percent of American adults owned smartphones. As of May 2013, that number grew to 56 percent while 34 percent owned a tablet computer. Additionally, as of January 2013, 26 percent of Americans owned an e-reader.

With particular attention to the rapid rise in new device adoption, iovation and Experian will use the webinar to detail current fraud challenges in the online channel. The companies will explore how to leverage a multi-layered fraud prevention strategy to help prevent fraud at the point of application, before the fraudster becomes a customer.
