Iowa Poker Players to Compete Nationally for Thousands in Prizes

DES MOINES, IA--(Marketwire - December 30, 2008) - Starting this January, Iowa poker players will have a chance to win thousands in cash and prizes. The Heartland Poker League will be offered four days per week in Iowa at Prairie Meadows in Altoona, Meskwaki Bingo and Casino in Tama and Diamond Jo Casino in Northwood.

The Heartland Poker League allows players to compete in poker tournaments at their local casino for prizes such as vacations, electronics, gift cards, and seats into televised poker events such as the World Poker Tour. Buy-ins for Heartland Poker League tournaments are usually between $50 and $100.

The Iowa schedule for the Heartland Poker League for Winter Season 2009 is
as follows:

Sundays,   January 4th  - March 8th   2pm  Diamond Jo Casino     $70 buy-in
Mondays,   January 12th - March 16th  7pm  Prairie Meadows      $110 buy-in
Tuesdays,  January 6th  - March 10th  7pm  Diamond Jo Casino     $50 buy-in
Saturdays, January 10th - March 14th  2pm  Meskwaki              $50 buy-in

Players can compete in one or all of the events. Players should register at the casino at least 45 minutes prior to the event. Tournaments are subject to sell-out. Tournament times and dates may change. Please visit for the most up-to-date schedule or contact the casino.
