Iowa State Fair Encourages Fairgoers to Stay Cool and Hydrated

DES MOINES, IA--(Marketwire - August 10, 2007) - Due to the potential for high temperatures during the next several days, the Iowa State Fair is encouraging Fairgoers to stay hydrated and cool.

Fairgoers will be allowed to bring bottles of water through the gates. Coolers, glass bottles and food will not be admitted. In addition, water fountains are located throughout the Fairgrounds, including: Outdoors -- Pella Plaza, Farm Bureau Park, Midway Entrance and Legacy Terrace; Indoors -- Agriculture Building, 1st floor; Cultural Center, 1st and 2nd floor; 4-H Exhibits Building, North Wall; Grandstand, Stage Side; Legacy Terrace, in front of Grandstand; Sheep Barn, near women's restrooms; Swine Barn, near men's restroom; Elwell Family Food Center, south wall; Varied Industries Building, west and east entrance of 1st floor hallway, 2nd floor by restrooms.

Two water features, located at Pella Plaza and Legacy Terrace, will provide additional relief to Fairgoers wanting to cool off in the water.

Fairgoers are encouraged to cool off while they enjoy the many displays and exhibits inside the Fair's air conditioned buildings, including: 4-H Exhibits Building, Cattle Barn Penningroth Media Center, Maytag Family Theaters, FFA Display Building, Des Moines Register Service Center, Varied Industries Building, Walnut Center, Ralph H. Deets Historical Museum, Richard O. Jacobson Hall/Kenyon Gallery, Elwell Family Food Center and Paul R. Knapp Animal Learning Center.

Two full-service American Red Cross facilities are available for Fairgoers seeking medical attention. They are located on the Grand Concourse at The Des Moines Register Service Center and the Medicap Pharmacy Health and First Aid Center on Grand Avenue, east of the Agriculture Building.
