IP Partner Sanjeet Dutta Joins King & Spalding in Silicon Valley

REDWOOD SHORES, CA--(Marketwire - Apr 19, 2011) - Sanjeet Dutta, a patent lawyer specializing in the electrical engineering and computer science arts, has joined King & Spalding's Silicon Valley office as a partner in the intellectual property group, the firm announced today. Dutta is the second partner with an intellectual property focus to join the firm's Silicon Valley office in the past month. In March the firm announced the arrival of Richard C. Hsu, a corporate lawyer specializing in complex licensing transactions in the technology and life sciences sectors.

"Sanjeet is a talented lawyer who further expands the capabilities of our Silicon Valley intellectual property team," said practice group leader Courtland Reichman. "His deep patent expertise in engineering, software, and computer science will provide an immediate and tangible benefit to the practice and our clients."

Dutta joins King & Spalding from Orrick, Herrington and Sutcliffe LLP. His practice includes patent prosecution, licensing agreements, IP diligence and audits, and patent litigation matters, with a focus on processor architecture, semiconductor memories, semiconductor verification/emulation and semiconductor processing and manufacturing. He received his J.D. from the George Washington University Law School and his undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

King & Spalding's intellectual property practice group consist of lawyers and patent agents located in the firm's Atlanta, Austin, Charlotte, Houston, London, New York, San Francisco, Silicon Valley and Washington, D.C., offices. In its 2011 World IP Survey, Managing Intellectual Property recognized the firm as one of the top IP practices in the United States, ranking it in eight categories including bio life sciences (national), copyright (national and regional), ITC (national), patent contentious (national and regional) and trademark contentious (national and regional).

"King & Spalding is a highly-regarded global law firm with a proven IP practice and a growing profile on the West Coast," said Dutta. "The opportunity to join such a well-positioned firm is an exciting one, and I look forward to working with my new colleagues to further develop California-based work."
