IP Shareholder Joins Polsinelli's Expanding New York Office

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - Jan 25, 2016) - Polsinelli, an Am Law 100 firm with an extensive nationwide Intellectual Property practice, welcomes Pete Thurlow to the firm as shareholder where he will practice nationally from the firm's New York City office. Thurlow moves to Polsinelli from the New York office of an Am Law 10 firm, where he was a leader in their global patent prosecution practice.

Thurlow is a patent prosecution attorney with extensive experience in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), with knowledge of the USPTO post-grant inter partes review and reexamination proceedings with a focus on medical and engineering technologies. He is the most recent IP lawyer to join Polsinelli's growing New York office.

"Pete is a tremendous addition and helps further expand our national footprint. We are incredibly pleased to have him on our team," said Intellectual Property Practice Chair Pat Woolley.

Thurlow is a Board of Directors member of the New York Intellectual Property Law Association (NYIPLA), the primary IP law association in New York. He is also a second-term board member of the USPTO's Patent Public Advisory Committee (PPAC), which includes nine experienced patent practitioners who advise the Undersecretary of Commerce and Director on USPTO patent policies and procedures.

"Attracting Pete here is a major coup for us and we expect his presence will attract other top-notch New York lawyers to our already prominent national IP practice," said New York Office Managing Partner Dan Flanigan, who is also chair of Polsinelli's Real Estate & Financial Services practice.

Polsinelli's expanding team of New York attorneys, which currently includes 20 lawyers in such practice areas as IP, real estate and real estate finance, bankruptcy and creditors' rights, and commercial litigation, will be moving to new office space in February that will initially accommodate more than 50 attorneys.

"I am thrilled to join Polsinelli, which was recently named one of four IP Litigation Powerhouses in the 2016 BTI Litigation Outlook report," said Thurlow.

Thurlow earned his law degree from the Brooklyn Law School in 1996 and his MBA from Pace University in 1992. He had previously studied at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy where he obtained his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering in 1988.

Polsinelli's Intellectual Property attorneys counsel Fortune 500 companies, mid-size public and private companies, start-ups, universities and not-for-profit research institutes on the IP challenges faced by these organizations.
