iPackets International Accelerates its Mine-Safety and Underground Communications Market Entry in North America

VANCOUVER, BC -- (MARKET WIRE) -- January 25, 2006 -- iPackets International, Inc. ("iPackets") (OTC: IPKL), a global developer and provider of a wide range of wireless and communications solutions for selected enterprises, including the mine-safety industry, announced today that it's accelerating its North American mine-safety and underground communications market entry to meet the increasing number of inquiries it's received in the past few weeks.

The deaths of 14 West Virginia miners in less than three weeks sadly illustrate the need for more sophisticated underground communications systems for the North American mine-safety industry. On January 23, 2006 and on the heels of the two West Virginia mining accidents, state lawmakers approved legislation requiring miners to wear tracking devices aimed at improving the chances of survival for miners trapped underground.

In light of these events, iPackets will invest aggressively in its North American sales and marketing efforts to promote its iPMine mine-safety product. "Our iPMine strategy was initially focused on the Chinese and selected Asian and East European markets," said Naiel Kanno, president and CEO of iPackets. "However, the number of inquiries that we have received from within North America is indicative of a market opportunity here at home as well. To expedite our new North American strategy, iPackets is creating an Advisory Board with the appropriate skill sets that will guide management on this potentially lucrative market."

iPMine, iPackets' flagship product targeting the mine-safety industry, is a real-time 2-way wireless communications solution to track, monitor, and communicate with miners and equipment underground and above ground. The location information of the miners and equipment is collected and displayed live on one or more viewing monitoring stations against a background of the mine's terrain map. iPMine's scalability and flexibility features make it ideal to be deployed in any mine size supporting multiple levels and/or sites. iPMine's redundant communications feature makes the system highly reliable to efficiently operate in the harsh mining environment.

About the Mining and Mine-Safety Industries in China

There are over 280,000 mining enterprises in China of which 80,000 are state-owned. Mine-safety has been a major issue in the Chinese mining industry. More than 6,000 miners died in accidents in China last year; independent estimates say the real figure could be as high as 20,000. In February 2005, the Chinese State Administration of Work Safety mandated US$6.3 billion to be spent over the next three years to improve mine-safety at all state-owned mines. In addition, the estimated 200,000+ privately owned mines will invest a significant amount to upgrade their mine-safety systems, or risk losing their operating permits.
