iPass Welcomes Chief Marketing Officer June Bower

Mobile Tech Veteran to Drive Next Phase of Marketing Innovation

REDWOOD SHORES, CA--(Marketwired - Dec 2, 2013) - iPass Inc. (NASDAQ: IPAS), the global Wi-Fi roaming leader for enterprises and telecom service providers, announced today that mobile technology marketing expert June Bower has been appointed chief marketing officer. In this role, Bower will be responsible for all integrated and product marketing and will report to the CEO. She brings more than 25 years of strategic marketing experience in creating next-generation offerings with a strong consumer focus at industry heavyweights including Cisco, Octel, Alcatel, Adobe and Apple.

"iPass has reached an important juncture, and we believe June's background will help accelerate brand awareness for our mobile connectivity solutions," said Evan Kaplan, CEO of iPass. "Her leadership and consumer marketing orientation will immediately boost our smartphone and tablet Wi-Fi adoption strategy. June has spent much of her career in mobile tech marketing at companies legendary for their innovation. She's an exceptional hire for us as we enter a new period of growth. With her track record developing world-class enterprise marketing organizations, June is a very welcome addition to the iPass team."

Bower most recently served as executive vice president and chief marketing officer at Financial Engines, where she developed marketing programs and products to fuel 35% annual growth. While at Cisco, Bower founded and led the WebEx direct-to-consumer online business where she grew the business from nothing to a substantial portion of the Web-Ex division's annual revenue. Prior to Cisco Bower has worked for companies that have been a global force in mobile, including Octel, Openwave and Alcatel, where she headed product marketing for the entertainment software division. She was also vice president of marketing for Mobilitec, a mobile startup which was acquired by Alcatel-Lucent the month the two companies merged.

"What attracted me to iPass was the unique position it holds in the wireless space," said Bower. "iPass provides a single login to the world's largest Wi-Fi network and does it at a fraction of what it would otherwise cost. It makes business travel easier for the road warrior and lowers telephony bills for enterprises and their employees. As mobile device usage explodes, I am excited to have the opportunity to market this service to a broad and growing market."

Earlier in her career, Bower led Adobe's efforts to build a relevant brand for Windows users as well as the Apple market. She began her career at Apple, where she was responsible for marketing software products and led consumer marketing for the Macintosh. Bower holds a B.A. in psycholinguistics from Stanford University and an M.B.A from Pepperdine University.
