Ipswitch Appoints Accomplished Financial Executive Lang Leonard to the Position of Vice President of Finance

Leonard's Expertise in Finance, Operations and Business Strategy Further Strengthens Management Team and Supports Company's Aggressive Growth Plans

LEXINGTON, MA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- October 10, 2006 -- Ipswitch, a leading developer of network monitoring, messaging and file transfer solutions, today announced that it has appointed Lang Leonard to the position of vice president of finance. In this role, Leonard, a veteran of finance in the service and software markets, will be responsible for all the company's financial and legal activities, which are of increasing importance as the company continues its aggressive growth and enters the next phase of its development. Leonard's expertise includes financial and operational management, as well as strategic planning and business development.

"As Ipswitch enters its next phase of development and lays the groundwork to double over the next three years, it is essential that we have the financial leadership, experience and vision to support our growth plans," said Roger Greene, CEO and founder of Ipswitch. "Lang Leonard brings all of that and more to the VP of finance position. His experience running global financial operations for $300 million publicly traded companies is a huge asset, as is his enthusiasm and vision. We are delighted to have him join our team."

Before joining Ipswitch, Leonard was corporate controller for RSA Security, Inc., where his primary responsibilities included managing the company's financial operations and SEC reporting, as well as overseeing Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and revenue recognition for the global Internet security software firm. Previously, he worked as the director of business development for Solectron Corporation's global technology services division, a $1 billion business with 18,000 employees and operations in more than 20 countries. In this role, Leonard reported to the division president and was responsible for strategic opportunities and new initiatives, including international expansion, competitive benchmarking, and mergers and acquisitions. Before joining Solectron, Leonard held various executive positions at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP and The Learning Company, Inc.

"Ipswitch has an impressive financial track record," said Leonard. "Growing steadily and organically without any external funding, while also showing a profit every year since its founding 15 years ago, is truly exceptional. It says volumes about Ipswitch's business and its management, and I am looking forward to being part of the team that continues to set the bar higher still."

Leonard graduated with a B.A. in economics from Colgate University, a J.D. from Boston University School of Law and an M.B.A. from Boston University Graduate School of Management.
