iQ Food Co. Retains DECK Agency as AOR

Toronto Restaurant Chain Announces Partnership With Creative Communications Agency

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Dec. 11, 2014) - iQ Food Co., a healthy fast-casual restaurant chain announced today they have retained DECK Agency as Agency of Record. The agency will be tasked with full service public relations, social media, digital marketing, and strategic planning services for the brand.

iQ Food Co. selected DECK Agency for their marketing expertise in the food service and hospitality space. "We have seen what the DECK team can do and are very excited to have them as our agency of record," said Alan Bekerman, founder of iQ Food Co. "I believe DECK is at the forefront of branding and communications in the Canadian food service and hospitality industry. Through creative communications backed by thought leadership, this partnership should serve to help share our company's story."

iQ Food Co. was founded in Toronto in 2011, with a fresh, nutritious approach to dining. Featuring gourmet grain "boxes", salads and smoothies, many of iQ's dishes are prepared with organic ingredients, with numerous vegan and gluten-free items on offer. Almost everything at iQ is created from scratch in-house, with lean proteins, whole grains, and good fats forming the centerpiece of their food philosophy. The brand, now with three locations in the downtown core, has widespread appeal for those looking to pick up a healthy takeout lunch or enjoy a clean, quick, dine-in meal.

Menu highlights include the Big Red Smoothie Bowl, with maca, acai, beet, spinach, banana, raspberries, strawberries, beet and pomegranate juice, banana, goji, unsweetened coconut and seed crunch clusters. Another favourite is the Butternut Squash Ceviche Box, with roasted and marinated Ontario squash, raw corn pico de gallo, queso fresco, avocado, black beans, pickled cabbage, spicy pumpkin seeds, jalapeño, cilantro, and lime juice, served on chopped romaine and brown rice. The iQ bake shop uses unprocessed ingredients like maple syrup, coconut oil and chia seeds, and serves coffee from Toronto's Pilot Coffee Roasters.

"We are pleased to have the opportunity to represent a socially-conscious and nutritious dining option in Toronto. We have exciting plans to help iQ Food Co. gain visibility and achieve their goals, while continuing to encourage a healthy lifestyle," said Jonathan Tick, Founder and CEO of DECK Agency.

iQ's restaurants are located at Brookfield Place, the TD Centre food court, and 18 York Street. The three restaurants have a contemporary design sensibility, with open ceilings, modern light fixtures, large mirrors reflecting the prep counter, and lots of natural light. Pieces by local artist James Robert Durant, wallpaper from Brooklyn-based Flavor Paper featuring Andy Warhol prints, and a mix of Italian ceramics and stones add a unique touch to the iQ interiors. The 18 York Street location was recently nominated for Interior Design Magazine's Best of the Year Awards in the "Restaurant Café" category.

About iQ Food Co.

Guided by a balanced approach to eating and wellness, we embrace food in all of its forms. We're champions of minimally processed and nutrient-dense vibrant food. Opting for whole grains, lean proteins and good fats; nearly everything that we serve at our restaurants is made in-house from scratch. While we're not exclusively partial to any particular style of diet, we do think that the food that you eat should be clean. Quite a bit of what we source is organic, and because our menu rolls with the seasons, much is local. Every day, we're adding more of both.
