iQuate Partners With VMware and OnX to Create a Holistic Software Asset Management Approach for Financial Firms' Cloud-Based Datacenters

Proving Their Commitment to Protecting as Well as Reducing Costs Associated With "Cloud" Financial IT Assets, the Companies Together With EMC Host the First "Financial Services Datacenter Cloud Summit"

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - Sep 10, 2012) - iQuate, a global leader in IT inventory and discovery, announces its strategic alignment with VMware and OnX to create a holistic Software Asset Management (SAM) solution for financial firms that deploy high-cost datacenter software assets from either in-house or outsourced datacenters.

Software licensing allocation inaccuracies typically lead to millions of dollars lost to either the customer or software vendor. The situation worsens when the technology is spread across a multi-faceted IT network that includes physical, virtual and cloud-based infrastructures. These companies combine their individual expertise including: iQuate's Software Asset Management tools, VMware's industry-leading virtualization and cloud infrastructure solutions and OnX's Datacenter expertise, to enable businesses to fully take advantage of their datacenters, yet protect them from mismanaged software licensing, sometimes costing some $150,000 per title infringement.

"VMware customers are finding tremendous opportunities to reduce costs and improve operational flexibility using cloud computing. Developing a cloud architecture creates new requirements for datacenter compliance and asset management," said Sheryl Sage, director, alliance programs, VMware. "Customers can realize great value in a robust, extensible solution to IT asset management, and development of the expertise to implement it. VMware is excited to be working with our partners, iQuate and OnX, to bring a holistic view of this new landscape to the financial services sector."

To demonstrate their deep commitment to the financial industry, VMware, OnX and iQuate joined forces with EMC to host "The First Annual Financial Services Datacenter Cloud Summit," to be held on September 10th in the Consulate General of Ireland in New York City. The Summit's main goal is to educate financial firms on how they can increase the value of their enterprise software through virtualization, compliance management and a comprehensive cloud strategy.

"Customers are empowered when they closely manage mission critical licensing: knowing entitlements versus deployments provides the business clarity to drive success without additional costs," said Sam Lucido, Global Oracle Functional Leader at EMC. "As mission critical licensing represents a significant investment the value of asset management provides a foundation to intelligently plan and skillfully negotiate with those application providers for an overall better ROI."

Enriching Summit Sessions Include:

  • "The Value of Data": Curt Barrentine, VP of Global Software Asset Management at JP Morgan Chase, will discuss how SAM is critical in managing compliance but its value to the firm is optimizing spending.

  • "Reducing Oracle Licensing Costs in the Datacenter": Sam Lucido and Mike Austin, Director of Software Solutions at OnX, will educate audiences on how to optimize Oracle license costs by utilizing storage, server consolidation and private cloud services.

  • "Virtualization & License Compliance": Jason Keogh, CTO at iQuate and Will Monin, director, alliances, VMware, will discuss how financial firms can leverage virtualization to reduce their business critical application costs. Jason will specifically touch upon how software licensing optimization is an enabler to virtualizing the modern datacenter.

The company was tapped for this session due to its particular "SAM" expertise in software licensing inventory and discovery for major software vendors such as Microsoft and Oracle. In fact, they recently saved an insurance company over $2.5 million on Oracle database options which had been previously declared incorrectly.
