Irdeto Supports Citizens Cablevisions' Digital Cable TV Roll-Out

The Irdeto Digital TV Solution Secures Premium TV Content for Subscribers in Virginia, USA

SAN DIEGO, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- October 18, 2005 -- Irdeto, a world leader in content security and a subsidiary of multinational media group Naspers (NASDAQ: NPSN) and (JSE: NPN), and Citizens Cablevision, a regional full-service communications and entertainment service provider in Southwest Virginia, announced today the implementation of the Irdeto Digital TV conditional access (CA) system as part of Citizens Cablevisions' digital cable TV roll-out.

The Irdeto CA system controls subscriber access to broadcast and on-demand video services and prevents unauthorized viewing. Citizens Cablevision will have ultra-secure protection against the risk of piracy and hacking, thereby securing its content and most importantly, its revenues.

Irdeto will supply Citizens Cablevision smart cards that will give each subscriber access to Citizens Cablevision's entire pay-media content offering and allow Citizens to promote the latest revenue-generating services to video customers in the company's service area.

"Citizens Cablevision offers more than 200 premium channels, and we are pleased to have a world-class partner to assist in offering secure premium content," said Robert Weeks, marketing manager for Citizens Cablevision. "Irdeto is a well-respected technology leader with nearly 40 years experience in content protection. Hundreds of customers worldwide have successfully deployed its solutions. Their experience gives us the utmost confidence to market our programming to thousands of subscribers."

"Security is the number one concern for broadcasters rolling out pay TV services," said Graham Kill, CEO of Irdeto. "Irdeto's solid reputation for security, reliability and customer service, gives Citizens Cablevision a solid foundation for operating their pay TV services securely."

The Irdeto Digital TV solution is developed for satellite DTH, cable or terrestrial broadcasting operations. It adheres to open standards and is interoperable with a wide range of headend multiplexing and encoding vendors, subscriber management solutions and scheduling systems. The Irdeto Digital TV CA system for medium to large-scale operations is expandable from thousands to millions of subscribers, all supported from a single system.

Irdeto will be exhibiting at Telecom '05, Booth #1415, 24-26 October at the Venetian Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
