Irish Artist Captures Ireland's Golden Age: The Beauty of Celtic Mysticism

CLERMONT, FL--(Marketwire - June 4, 2009) - Ray Carroll is a professional artist who has made a name for himself in thriving Irish art circles as a painter who explores the deep spiritual, mystical elements of ancient Celtic art and architecture. He produces exquisite, ethereal treatments in mixed media in a variety of oils, acrylics and charcoals, highlighting the beauty and mysticism of early Irish Celtic art. He also features a collection of pieces that beautifully capture the Irish landscape and ethos, lakes, rivers, mountains, street scenes. He was profiled recently on

Dublin-born and multi-talented, he has mastered painting, wood carving and sculpture, literature and music. He holds a Master's degree in English Literature from University College Dublin, is an award-winning poet, and a classical guitarist.

"My father, Michael Carroll, was a gifted artist and mentor," said Carroll. "His conceptual aptitudes were stunning in their technical draftsmanship combined with beautiful brush work in oils, pastels, water colors, capturing the subtleties of light and shade, color and composition. He always had a small sketchpad and pencil in his pocket. I learned so much from observing him at work."

Carroll sharpened his own skills at the National College of Art Dublin, and at the Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design & Technology. He won the prestigious Purser Griffith Diploma for Art History, and has exhibited widely in Dublin, at the Guinness Hop Store Group Art Exhibitions, and at the Eigse Carlow Arts Festival.

His work is imbued with his contemplation of the overlap and blurring of reality and unreality, substance and spirit, body and soul. Each piece is an original work, and offers its own depths of meaning and vision to be explored and enjoyed by the viewer.

His special delights are his "The Four Seasons," and "The Deserted Village," which present figurative and abstract content provoking interpretive discussion and enjoyment. "Above all, I want my art -- all of it original -- to be financially accessible to those who have a love of Ireland and her landscapes and want to have some of my pieces in their homes or offices to reflect and express their own connection to Ireland. I accept commissions to visit -- and capture on canvas or paper -- specific places, sites and scenes in Ireland that are of particular personal nostalgic value to those of Irish ancestry or connection. I welcome everyone to visit my website,"
