Iron Mountain Wins Recognition in Document Manager Awards

Information Management Company Iron Mountain Takes First Place for BPO/Outsourcing Business of the Year and is a Close Second in the Secure Destruction Category.

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - Oct. 6, 2011) - Mountain is proud to announce that it has won the Document Manager (DM) award for company of the year in the BPO/outsourcing/bureau category, beating stiff competition from a field of 14 companies. Iron Mountain also finished second in the category of document destruction company of the year.

Organised every year since 2007, the DM Awards event is one of the largest and most prestigious awards events on the UK document management calendar. Held at London's Hotel Russell, the event brings together a who's who of businesses across the UK's document management and document storage industries. Voting for the categories in which Iron Mountain competed was open to industry insiders and customers as part of the public selection process.

The DM Awards aim to recognise and reward business excellence across all sectors, private and public. Open to organisations of any size, the Awards encourage entries from those that feel they are working smarter than their competitors to create a business edge.

Nicola Travis, European operations development manager with Iron Mountain, explains why she thinks the information management company has this edge: "We're unique in that we offer services that help organisations protect, access and use their information, from creation to destruction.

"We have built our reputation on security, safeguarding the information assets of businesses large and small, with a chain-of-custody process that gives us full visibility into the location of every document in our care.

"In scanning, we're fast taking a leading position, and this award recognises our progress. We're making sure that we are equipped to serve our clients across Europe with a network of 56 imaging facilities in 19 countries. We have just opened one of Europe's largest scanning centres in Stafford, which can process up to 250 million documents per year and manage highly sensitive and confidential documents.

"Our scanning services help our customers to store, access and manage paper and electronic documents while cutting costs. We can scan and digitise new information, digitise existing paper and e-documents, and archive for maximum security and accessibility. From bulk scanning, through same-day and on-demand scanning, to BPO services such as our accounts payable capabilities, we are giving our customers increased visibility and control. We're helping them to unlock the information advantage stored in their business assets. We're not providing just a run-of-the-mill scan centre; we aim to provide our customers a full solution that enhances their business and processes."

Iron Mountain was a proud runner up in the category of best document destruction company of the year. Arun McIntosh, business development director for Iron Mountain, comments: "We're pleased with this industry recognition of what we have been achieving with our secure shredding services. We care about the reputation of our customers and know just how serious the consequences of not securely destroying confidential information can be. We help customers track their confidential information from the moment they are designated for destruction until they are destroyed. It's not just about the paper; the destruction of CDs, DVDs and hard drives requires highly specialised equipment. We also destroy other sensitive items such as uniforms that would present a risk if they got into the wrong hands.

"Our appetite for providing our customers with best-in-class solutions drives us forward. Our hope is to serve our customers well enough that next year they vote us to the top spot."

Iron Mountain will hold its titles in both categories until August next year.
