IRON Solutions, Publisher of the "Official Guide," Recognizes 2006 Model Year Tractors and Combines With Highest Residual Values

FENTON, MO--(Marketwire - September 3, 2009) - Since its founding, IRON Solutions, Inc. has provided the equipment industry and its customers the information and tools they need to accurately appraise, price and sell their products and succeed in this ever-changing market.

John Deere, New Holland, Case IH, Challenger, Fendt and Lexion all had models that earned awards.

"We are honored to introduce this new award, which highlights the accomplishments of manufacturers and dealers of farm equipment that holds the greatest proportion of original price after three years of ownership," says Darwin Melnyk, CEO of IRON Solutions. "Based on a deep data pool, broad collaboration and support of IRON partners across the equipment industry, and the work of expert equipment market editors, researchers and analysts behind the IRON Solutions 'Official Guide,' these awards set new benchmarks for the equipment industry."

"A recognition like the 2009 Official Guide Highest Residual Value Award is an important milestone for the farm equipment industry," says Paul Kindinger, president and chief executive officer of the North American Equipment Dealer Association, which has represented the business interests of equipment dealers since 1900.

"First, the award is an important recognition of the quality engineering and manufacturing that goes into this extraordinary equipment," Kindinger adds. "Second, because these awards are based on billions of dollars of actual, unbiased and detailed sales transactions, the Official Guide Highest Residual Value Award is a seal of excellence that manufacturers, dealers and customers alike can rely on. These awards will benefit farmer, dealer and manufacturer alike."

The 2009 awards are based on unbiased analysis of more than four hundred 2006 model year machines with the highest residual value in the market after three years of service when compared to the original selling price. IRON Solutions tracks more than 4,400 total tractor and combine models annually. These prestigious awards are based on nearly $4B in annual equipment sales transactions that are collected, processed and researched by IRON Solutions from across the equipment industry.

"Because the Official Guide Highest Residual Value Awards are based on actual transactions, they accurately reflect what is happening in the market," says Dallas Blome, vice president of IRON Solutions and editor of the "Official Guide." "Unlike advertising services that publish high-low-average retail advertised prices, IRON Solutions values are based on highly detailed sales transaction data from independent sources including end-users, dealers, manufacturers, auctions and finance companies. All transactions include equipment options, machine condition, model year and other important attributes. In addition, an expert team of analysts reviews and researches each transaction to provide the most accurate values in the industry."

Jeff Lapin, Farm Progress Cos. president, says he is excited that Farm Progress could host the presentation of the historic equipment awards. Together IRON Solutions and Farm Progress reach more in-market equipment shoppers through IRONsearch.com, the IRON Search equipment section in select publications and the IRONsearch.com tool available at all of Farm Progress state and regional publications' Web sites.

"The Official Guide Highest Residual Value Awards are first-of-its-kind in the industry," Lapin says. "These awards are another way to help our users manage their equipment fleets. IRONsearch.com and the IRON Search section within our publications help farmers find equipment for their operations. Now, with the annual Highest Residual Value Awards, equipment buyers can identify value in their purchases."
