Iron.io Collaborates With Mirantis to Bring Serverless Computing Experience to OpenStack Community

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - Apr 25, 2016) - Today, Iron.io, a leading provider of enterprise-grade job processing solutions, announced it is working together with Mirantis, the pure-play OpenStack® company, to bring event-driven, serverless functionality to OpenStack. This joint project will utilize telemetry components to capture internal OpenStack system events that will trigger automated workflows, while Iron.io will handle all underlying operations.

The first phase of the joint initative is Iron.io releasing a validated Murano application package for the IronMQ component of its platform. This highly-available cloud native message queue, which serves as the backbone of a microservices architecture, may now be installed and configured directly from the Murano Application Catalog.

This project brings the benefits of serverless computing to large enterprises. Developers will be able to write logic as Docker images and allow for event-driven processing without the need to provision infrastructure. Ease of use and adaptability are indicative of the developer-first nature of the serverless computing that are now available to the OpenStack community.

"Mirantis is an ideal partner to bring the benefits of Iron.io funcionality to the OpenStack community," said Chad Arimura, Iron.io CEO and co-founder. "By leveraging this joint solution, enterprise developers using OpenStack will deliver applications and services faster through the serverless experience provided by Iron.io."

"The Murano Application Catalog enables companies to extend their OpenStack installations with validated solutions," said Mirantis VP Product Marketing, Kamesh Pemmaraju. "We're excited to have Iron.io bring its expertise in queuing, distributing, and managing container-based workloads at scale to the OpenStack ecosystem."
