iShares® Canada Launches Interactive ETF Education Toolkits, Customized Guides for Individual Investors and Financial Advisors

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - April 22, 2013) - BlackRock Asset Management Canada Limited (BlackRock Canada), an indirect, wholly-owned subsidiary of BlackRock, Inc., today announced the launch of an interactive educational toolkit offering one of the most comprehensive collection of ETF materials and tips. There are two versions of the toolkit available - one is tailored for the advisor and the other for the individual investor who is directing their own investments.

"For most people, the biggest barrier to ETF investing is not knowing where to start," said Mary Anne Wiley, Managing Director, Head of iShares, BlackRock Canada. "However, people are waking up to the costs of investing and they are looking for a better way to invest in these low-returning environments. We feel ETFs are a great investment vehicle and want to ensure that the resources to make more informed decisions are easily accessible. That's why we are launching these toolkits today."

The iShares' toolkits offer a comprehensive collection of ETF tips, tools and techniques customized to help investors and advisors understand ETFs and the role they can play in an investment portfolio.

What you can expect:

  • A user-friendly format offering interactive tools such as videos, tutorials and printable PDFs throughout the guide.
  • A reference tool to educate on the benefits of ETFs as an investment vehicle, trading best practices and the various ETF structures.
  • Featured sections within the guide about "Putting ETFs to work" and "Dispelling common ETF myths."
  • Plus, a complete list of iShares Canada ETF products.

The ETF toolkits are accessible on the iShares website: www.iShares.ca/tools.

Given its long-standing partnership with the financial advisor community, and the growing awareness for and appreciation of ETFs, iShares Canada is committed to making the right tools available for advisors in managing their clients' portfolios.

"The advisor-version of the toolkit is specifically designed as a comprehensive reference guide to both increase an advisor's expertise of ETFs and better prepare them to have conversations with their clients about the benefits they can bring," says Keith VanOrden, Head of iShares Retail Business Development, BlackRock Canada.
