iSIGN's application for a patent on its "method and system for out-of-home proximity marketing and for delivering awareness information" was initially filed November 27, 2007 and published on April 17, 2008. The patent covers iSIGN's invention which "teaches geographically dispersed computer units programmed to receive and transmit information using OBEX or similar protocols fed by a central source which is accepted or rejected on a per-message basis" and as well specifically references "Bluetooth and other wireless transceivers capable of collecting, storing and transmitting wireless ID data from users"; to "store wireless information concerning wireless ID data from the users of the wireless devices, store information provided by sponsors to be displayed on the plurality of said digital displaying units"; to "collect and filter information …from digital sources" and much more.
