ISO Reschedules Public Meeting on Regional Energy Market Studies

FOLSOM, CA--(Marketwired - May 10, 2016) - The California Independent System Operator (ISO) is hosting a two-day public meeting on May 24 and 25 to review preliminary results of studies on the potential impacts of a regional electric grid across the western United States.

The preliminary study findings will be published Friday, May 20, on the ISO website.

The studies are required under Senate Bill 350, the Clean Energy and Pollution Reduction Act, signed into law last year. The law's main provision establishes California's goal of reaching a 50 percent renewable portfolio standard by 2030. SB 350 also directs the ISO to complete studies to assess a regional grid's potential impacts to ratepayers, California's economy and workforce, the environment, disadvantaged communities, greenhouse gas emissions, and the reliability and integration of renewable energy resources.

The meeting will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 24, and Wednesday, May 25, at the ISO headquarters, 250 Outcropping Way, Folsom, CA. Those planning to attend in person must register by email to SMC@caiso.com by 5 p.m. on May 20.

The two day conference is also available via internet at http://ems7.intellor.com/login/704464 on May 24 and http://ems7.intellor.com/login/704086 on May 25. Audio access instructions will be available after connecting to the web conference.

To participate by telephone only, call 877-369-5230 followed by access code 0306470# on May 24 and access code 0487035# on May 25. Please use this dial-in method only if unable to participate by web to ensure ability to participate in the question-and-answer session.

Stakeholder comments on the preliminary results and the meeting discussion are due by June 8. The final report is anticipated to be released this summer.
