ISQED Names Recipient of Prestigious ISQED Quality Award, Dr. Leon O. Chua Receives 2010 IQ-Award

SAN JOSE, CA--(Marketwire - March 22, 2010) -  The International Society for Quality Electronic Design today announced the winner of the prestigious ISQED Quality Award (IQ-Award). Dr. Leon O. Chua of the Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences Department, University of California, Berkeley is this year's IQ-Award recipient. Dr. Chua is well known as a pioneer in three major research areas, nonlinear circuits, chaos and cellular neural networks. His work in these areas has been recognized internationally by major awards, including 12 honorary doctorates from major universities in Europe and Japan and seven USA patents.

Dr. Chua will be honored during the ISQED2010 luncheon, sponsored by Synopsys, on Tuesday, March 23, where he will present on the topic of "Memristor Minds."

"We are pleased to announce that Dr. Chua is receiving this prestigious Award for his pioneering research in nonlinear circuits and systems, chaos theory, Chua's circuits and memristor theory," said Dr. Ali A. Iranmanesh, ISQED founder and the CEO & founder of the Silicon Valley Technical Institute. "This volume of work has led to invention of nanoscale memristors that has opened new fields and invigorated RRAM and novel system concepts, inspirational teaching and education of outstanding leaders in micro and nanoelectronics fields, sustained over several decades."

The IQ-Award was established in 2007 to recognize individuals who have made significant and often lasting contributions to the field of quality in electronic design. The Award's recipients are selected from a pool of qualified candidates from various disciplines encompassing the field of electronic design such as circuit and system design, design automation, semiconductor technology, IC packaging, test, as well as managers, leaders, and educators, who foster the spirit of quality by instilling and promoting quality in electronic design.

ISQED is being held from March 22 to March 24 of 2010, at the DoubleTree Hotel, San Jose, California. The conference features full day tutorials, embedded tutorials, panel discussions, seven keynote speeches, exhibits, and over 120 technical presentations.

ISQED corporate sponsors are Synopsys and Mentor Graphics. ISQED's media sponsors include Extension Media, Chip Design Magazine, EDACafe and SCDsource. The Conference is held with technical sponsorship of the IEEE Electron Devices Society and IEEE CASS, and in cooperation with IEEE Reliability Society, and ACM/SigDA. ISQED is produced and sponsored by the International Society for Quality Electronic Design.

About the International Symposium on Quality Electronic Design

The International Symposium on Quality Electronic Design (ISQED) is a premier Design & Design Automation conference, aimed at bridging the gap between and integration of, electronic design tools and processes, integrated circuit technologies, processes and manufacturing, to achieve design quality. ISQED is the pioneer and leading conference dealing with design for manufacturability and quality issues, front to back. The conference provides a forum to present and exchange ideas and to promote research, development, and application of design techniques and methods, design processes, and EDA design methodologies and tools that address issues which impact the quality of the realization of designs into physical integrated circuits. ISQED's goal is to accelerate cooperation among the IC Design, EDA, and semiconductor process technology and manufacturing communities. Further information about ISQED can be found at http://www.isqed.org.
