ista North America Strengthens Leadership Role in Energy Management

Industry Innovator Supports Excellence, Best Practices to Manage and Conserve Energy

ATLANTA, GA--(Marketwire - August 17, 2010) -  ista North America, one of the world's largest providers of submetering, utility expense management, and retail energy services, is demonstrating its support of the Energy Management Services (EMS) field through partnerships with leading industry organizations. The company has announced corporate partnerships with the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE), U.S. Green Building Council and ENERGY STAR.

"Our commitment to supporting the energy management industry is second only to our commitment to helping our customers achieve the maximum benefit from their energy use," said Ruediger Neubauer, CEO of ista North America. "We continually seek to maintain the professionalism and knowledge of our team in order to provide our customers with leading edge technology and practices. These partnerships help us achieve that goal.

"Additionally, our participation with these leading organizations allows us to contribute to the overall strength and development of EMS, a field that is increasingly important as the world seeks ways to improve energy usage, reduce our carbon footprint and conserve valuable natural resources," Neubauer added.

ENERGY STAR Service and Product Provider
The Environmental Protection Agency's ENERGY STAR program offers a proven energy management strategy that helps in measuring current energy performance, setting goals, tracking savings and rewarding improvements. ENERGY STAR provides an innovative energy performance rating system which businesses have already used for more than 130,000 buildings across the country.

The ENERGY STAR Service and Product Provider (SPP) partnership was created for organizations that provide energy efficiency services and/or products to commercial buildings and industrial manufacturing plants in the United States. The designation of ENERGY STAR SPP Partner is based upon ista's demonstrated expertise and commitment to helping clients improve the energy performance of their commercial building portfolios.

Association of Energy Engineers
AEE is a professional association focused on the dynamic fields of energy engineering and management, renewable and alternative energy, power generation, energy services, sustainability and all related areas. With a membership base of over 11,000 professionals, AEE is probably best known for its widely recognized and highly regarded certification programs.

ista recently announced its intention of adding Certified Energy Managers® (CEM®) to every U.S. office -- a certification awarded by AEE. The designation of CEM recognizes individuals who have demonstrated high levels of experience, competence, proficiency and ethical fitness in the energy management profession. Attaining CEM certification is one of the highest achievements in the field of EMS.

U.S. Green Building Council
The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), a non-profit organization dedicated to sustainable building design and construction, is perhaps best known for its development of the LEED building rating system. With a community comprising 78 local affiliates, more than 18,000 member companies and organizations, and more than 140,000 LEED Professional Credential holders, USGBC is the driving force of an industry that is projected to contribute $554 billion to the U.S. gross domestic product from 2009-2013.

In the United States and in a number of other countries around the world, LEED certification is the recognized standard for measuring building sustainability. The LEED green building rating system is designed to promote design and construction practices that increase profitability while reducing the negative environmental impacts of buildings and improving occupant health and well-being.
