IT Frontier Signs Japan Distribution Agreement With PeerApp

NEWTON, MA--(Marketwire - Sep 6, 2011) - IT Frontier Corporation, headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, has signed an agreement with PeerApp Ltd., headquartered in Newton, Massachusetts, USA, to become PeerApp's authorized distributor in Japan. IT Frontier will market and sell PeerApp's transparent Internet caching product line "UltraBand™ Series" to telecommunications service providers, ISPs and cable operators throughout Japan. Under the agreement, IT Frontier will also provide local technical support for PeerApp products.

Recently, consumer Internet traffic in Japan has been increasing significantly. Service providers face the difficult problem of responding to increasing bandwidth consumption and customer demands for higher quality within a fixed CAPEX budget. In this environment, service providers are looking for a solution that enables them to more effectively utilize their bandwidth while also improving customer quality of experience.

PeerApp's patented UltraBand technology is the world's only truly transparent cache and content delivery solution that can simultaneously support video, HTTP downloads, peer to peer traffic and software updates on a single platform. This content makes up over 70% of Internet traffic today and is growing rapidly. PeerApp already has more than 175 customers in 60 countries around the world.

PeerApp's transparent cache always ensures that sessions are confirmed with the original content server before delivering content. This means that the cache will never deliver content that has been deleted or modified on the original server.

By delivering the content closer to the user, PeerApp's UltraBand has been shown to accelerate user quality of experience in Japanese operator networks from 4X to 20X, depending on the speed of the access network. The UltraBand product line comes in field-upgradable models supporting from 600 Mbps to 30Gbps of traffic forwarding and from 6TB to 90TB of cache storage in a single system.

IT Frontier plans to leverage its technical knowledge base and reputation of trust which it has earned by constantly bringing the latest products and technologies from outside Japan to its service provider customers, in order to expand the market for the UltraBand Series in Japan.
