ITA IoT Council Adds New Advisory Board Members

IoT Council expands leadership to further strengthen collaboration and accelerate growth in the Midwest IoT ecosystem

CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwired - August 22, 2017) - The Illinois Technology Association (ITA) announced today that it has added new Advisory Board positions to its Midwest Internet of Things (IoT) Council.

In 2015, the ITA launched a first-of-its-kind cross-disciplinary effort to bring together leaders from the technology industry and academia, as well as consumers and civic leaders to collaborate towards driving the growth and use of Internet of Things technologies in the Midwest. The result of this effort was the creation of the Midwest IoT Council. Its purpose is to drive the advancement of IoT technology, policy and industry, establishing Chicago and the Midwest as an epicenter of IoT.

Since its founding, the IoT Council has launched two major initiatives:

  1. Midwest IoT Inventory. The regular publication of an inventory of Midwest-based companies centered on IoT to benchmark growth within the region. In 18 months, the Inventory has grown from 70 companies to over 120, showcasing the breadth and depth of IoT in the Midwest.
  2. Chicago IoT Summit. Now in its fifth year, the summit brings nearly 600 individuals to discuss trends and share insights in IoT together with a capital conference where investors are matched with up-and-coming IoT companies. This year's event theme is Accelerating the IoT Revolution: Past, Present & Future and will be taking place October 18 - 19 in Chicago.

"The new advisory board members are helping us capitalize on the momentum we built over the past two years," said Julia Kanouse, CEO, ITA. "With their help, we are expanding the work of the council with two new initiatives -- policy recommendations for companies investing in and building IoT technologies and a skills analysis of the training and education that engineers and developers need to advance the field."

New IoT Council Advisory Board members include:

Israel Alguindigue, SVP Industrial Analytics, Uptake

Danielle DuMerer, CIO, City of Chicago

Glenn Eden, Executive Vice President, Weber Shandwick

Andrew Goldstein, Partner, Freeborn & Peters

Mrinalini Lakshminarayanan, Director, Airline Information Management, Gogo

Jim Treleaven, CEO, Via Strategy Group
