Italian Operatic Trio Andiamo Sign to Denon Classics

"Love, From Italy" PBS Special Airs Nationally in March 2007; CD/DVD Released April 3rd; Planning for US Tour in May 2007

SANTA MONICA, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- January 17, 2007 -- Denon Classics, Billboard Magazine's #2 Classical Label for 2006, is set to release the US debut of Italian singing trio ANDIAMO. Brought together by producer Daniel Hart, known for his extraordinarily successful Irish Tenors and Cantors projects, Claudio Catalano, Paolo Fanale and Giovanni Cavarretta became the principals of a vibrant production that celebrates romantic Italian musical traditions. "Love, From Italy," their debut CD and DVD is taken from a PBS television special that will air nationally in March, 2007. Taped in the jewel-like La Bonbonniere Theatre in Maastricht, Holland, Andiamo is backed by the 55-piece Il Novecento Orchestra. Music producer is Michael Whalen, a Emmy Award-winning television and film composer and known as a producer for his work with artists such as Stephen Sondheim, Brian Wilson, Roberta Flack, Howard Shore and many others. "Love, From Italy" has a strikingly cinematic sound inspired by the beloved music behind classic movies set in Italy (e.g. "Roman Holiday," "Three Coins In The Fountain"). It's a unique collection that showcases classic Italian opera, cherished Italian popular songs and modern favorites. "Love, From Italy," the DVD of the PBS special is available on April 3rd, as well as the companion CD. A US tour is being planned for May 2007.

In a time when so many television concerts and high profile recordings are less true musical performances than highly produced tracks that prop up less than accomplished artists, Andiamo's debut recording aims for the excitement of truly live singing. The video and audio recordings feature no pre-recorded tapes, computers or synthesizers, just a wonderfully organic orchestra and three tremendous singers who have come together by virtue of their extraordinary vocal talents. "Love, From Italy" features Andiamo singing classic Italian songs such as "O Sole Mio," "Volare," "Mona Lisa," "Arrivederci Roma," and others. Also included is a gorgeous original song written by Michael Whalen and Saverio Principani, "La Danza."

Although Giovanni Cavarretta, Paolo Fanale and Claudio Catalano come from different areas of Italy and have distinctively different musical backgrounds, the trio performs seamlessly together as if raised in the same family. Cavarretta is a classically trained tenor comfortable in both opera houses and on the popular stage having immersed himself in German "leider" and sung with the likes of Dionne Warwick as well. Fanale is the quintessential singing prodigy sharing his talents by singing everywhere he could -- from street corners to Protestant churches to finally, the opera world's mecca, with a recent successful audition at La Scala. Catalano would take an unorthodox route to his musical career starting out as a midfielder on a major league soccer team. Upon retirement from sports Catalano followed his dream of singing, starting out in vacation resorts and ultimately gaining stardom singing regularly on the popular "Toto Cutugno" show.

Says Michael Whalen, "Musically, Andiamo is about straddling three worlds: classic Italian song, opera and popular song. We had always envisioned an orchestral sound that would be lush and full, filled with color and life... we wanted to transport people to the perfect Italy!"
