Itronics Completing Five Times Scale Up of Its Pilot Plant, Producing Silver Concentrates for Refining and Raw Materials for GOLD'n GRO Fertilizer

"Green Technology" Expansion

RENO, NV--(Marketwired - August 09, 2016) - Itronics Inc. (OTC PINK: ITRO), a growing and diversified fertilizer, silver, and minerals producer, today announced that it is nearing completion of installation of a larger leach reactor system for its "Green Tech" FeLix, SuLix pilot scale leaching operation. The new leach reactor system will provide a five times increase in production of silver-bearing concentrates for its silver refinery, a five times increase in production of iron-bearing liquid, sulfur-bearing liquid, and sulfur powder for the Company's GOLD'n GRO fertilizer manufacturing.

Once this pilot plant scale-up is fully operational, Itronics plans to resume laboratory testing and begin field testing to support introduction of the KAM-Thio technology into Nevada's gold and silver mining industry. According to the Nevada Mining Association, Nevada is the eighth largest gold producer and twelfth largest silver producer in the world. Most of Nevada's gold and silver mines are open pit cyanide heap leaching operations.

KAM-Thio liquid is able to leach silver from the Itronics' silver-bearing glass slag and independent laboratory testing has shown that KAM-Thio is able to neutralize cyanide in cyanide solution. Testing performed by the Company in the early 90s demonstrated that the liquid is able to recover both gold and silver and neutralize the cyanide in mill tailings. KAM-Thio in a dilute water solution, such as neutralized cyanide solution, is a field proven fertilizer making this an excellent, cost effective, "Green Technology" environmental option for gold and silver mining companies.

"One of the largest potential markets in the world for the KAM-Thio technology is right in our back yard," said Dr. John Whitney, Itronics President. "Entry into the gold and silver mining industry in Nevada will create an expansion path for new non-seasonal liquid KAM-Thio sales, a major objective of the Company's sales diversification goals."

Completion of the pilot plant capacity expansion and initiation of KAM-Thio sales will increase Itronics' photoliquid processing capacity, and will make it feasible to accept additional photographic liquids from existing suppliers and to acquire spent silver-bearing photochemical raw material from new suppliers.

"The timing of completion of this five times increase in pilot scale leaching capacity is excellent for our investors," said Dr. John Whitney, Itronics President. "Precious metals prices are increasing with silver and palladium up more than 40 percent and gold up more than 30 percent this year."

Introduction of the KAM-Thio technology to the Nevada gold and silver mining industry at a time of rising prices will increase the value of residual gold and silver recoveries to the mining companies and make adopting the new "Green Tech" KAM-Thio technology economically more attractive. Increasing prices of these precious metals also increases the financial attractiveness of recycling e-scrap (ground up computer circuit boards) which Itronics is actively evaluating.
