It's Not Too Late: Office Holiday Parties Can Still Be Booked

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ -- (MARKET WIRE) -- November 28, 2006 -- If you've dragged your feet and haven't yet planned your holiday party, there's no need to panic. You still have time. Betsy Alger, co-owner of The Frog and The Peach restaurant in New Brunswick, has six tips to help make it easier for those who have waited until the last minute:

-- Consider January as an option - If you can't get the date you want in December, or if December is your busy season, January is perfect. You'll most likely get your first choice of date and time, it's less hectic/more relaxing and some restaurants will have post-holiday pricing options

-- Control the menu - Limit the selections to 3 to 4 in each category and set it up so that everyone is having the same number of courses. Try to choose something for everyone. Base the menu on your guests. It's smart to choose one meat option, one poultry option and one fish option. Make sure vegetarian dishes are available

-- Pre-select the wine - It is better for the host to pre-select the wine. This controls the cost and assures you that the restaurant has adequate stock

-- Beware of separate party menus - If you are choosing a restaurant because of the cuisine, be sure that the menu options you are selecting for your event are from, or similar in concept to, the a la carte menu, and not mass producible scaled down alternatives

-- Consider flexibility - A restaurant that is flexible and willing to work with you represents hospitality and good customer service

-- Use valet parking if available - If a restaurant offers valet parking, take advantage of it. It's a nice touch for your guests especially in bad weather

The Frog and The Peach was the first Contemporary American fine-dining restaurant in New Brunswick which pioneered the city's downtown renaissance in the early 80s. Alger owns the restaurant with her husband Jim Black. The progressive restaurant serves modern cuisine with an international spin. The restaurant has an ongoing commitment to innovative preparations, fresh ingredients, well being and the environment. For more information, visit
