It's Opening Day on CBS 3! -- Station to Air Phillies Opener in High Definition Monday, April 3, 3 pm

CBS 3, UPN 57 Personalities to Greet Fans at Citizens Bank Park; UPN 57 to Air Season Preview Special April 1st

PHILADELPHIA, PA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- March 28, 2006 -- Local baseball fans will get their first official look at the 2006 Phillies Monday, April 3rd at 3 p.m. when CBS 3 airs the season opener featuring the St. Louis Cardinals at Citizens Bank Park.

CBS 3 is broadcasting the Phillies season opener for the fourth consecutive year in partnership with its sister station, UPN 57, which will air 44 games during the season. CBS 3 Sports Director Beasley Reece will join the broadcast team as sideline reporter for this special presentation on CBS 3, but he won't be the only Eyewitness News team member in the house.

CBS 3 and UPN 57 are teaming up to make opening day a real party both on site and on air. CBS 3's Larry Mendte, Alycia Lane, Kathy Orr, Ukee Washington, Susan Barnett, Brooks Tomlin and Bob Kelly will be at the Third Base Gate to welcome fans to Opening Day with music and prizes from 12 noon until game time. The UPN 57 U-Crew -- Justin Dugan, Ashley Harder and Sean Scott -- along with the UPN "Logo Guys" and Wake Up News Traffic Anchor Sean Murphy will join them.

"Both CBS 3 and UPN 57 are in high spirits for what promises to be an exciting season," says CBS 3 and UPN 57 President and General Manager Michael Colleran. "Opening Day has a special place in the heart of baseball fans. We'll be both inside and outside the ball park to bring that excitement into the homes of our viewers."

In anticipation of the big event, UPN 57 will present Phillies Preview 2006, a half hour look at the season ahead hosted by CBS Sports Director Beasley Reece with reports from CBS 3's Steve Bucci, Don Bell and UPN 57's Sean Murphy. The special will air this Saturday, April 1st at 7:30 p.m. on UPN 57 and again on Sunday, April 2nd at 12 noon.
