ITtoolbox UNIX Developer Unveils Helios at YAPC::Europe 2008

Andrew Johnson Presents New Framework for Developing Asynchronous Distributed Job Processing Applications

SCOTTSDALE, AZ--(Marketwire - August 13, 2008) - ITtoolbox, the online community where professionals share IT knowledge and best practices, announced today that UNIX Developer Andrew Johnson will present Helios, a new framework for developing asynchronous distributed job processing applications, at the Yet Another Perl Conference (YAPC) in Copenhagen, Denmark on Thursday, August 14, 2008.

Mr. Johnson is a UNIX developer at ITtoolbox who designed Helios using open-source tools, including Perl and MySQL. He created this new framework in February 2008 while working on the launch of ITtoolbox Vendor Research Directory, which required a solution that could handle resource-intensive processing. Helios distributes work across multiple computers to increase efficiency and reduce processing time for applications, allowing these applications to scale higher than they would if processed on a single computer or one job at a time. Helios is available via the Comprehensive Perl Archive Network (CPAN):
