ITUS Demonstrates Efficacy of Its Cchek™ Early Cancer Detection Platform With Thyroid Cancer

LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwired - October 12, 2016) - ITUS Corporation ("ITUS") (NASDAQ: ITUS), today announced that it has successfully utilized its proprietary Cchek™ early cancer detection platform to identify the presence of Thyroid Cancer. Thyroid Cancer has been increasing worldwide over the past few decades and is the most rapidly increasing cancer in the U.S. There is currently no screening test for the early detection of Thyroid Cancer.

Cchek™ is ITUS's proprietary early cancer detection technology, which measures a patient's immunological response to a malignancy by detecting the presence, absence, and quantity of certain unique immune system cells that exist in and around a tumor and that enter the blood stream. As part of its ongoing patient efficacy trials, the company has successfully used Cchek to detect the presence of Thyroid Cancer in patients that have been diagnosed via conventional means.

An estimated 64,300 cases of Thyroid Cancer are expected to be diagnosed in the U.S. in 2016, with 3 out of 4 cases occurring in women. Unlike most adult cancers, for which older age increases risk, 70% of Thyroid Cancers occur in patients younger than age 60. ITUS has previously reported success with Cchek™ in detecting Breast Cancer, Lung Cancer, Colorectal Cancer, Melanoma, Ovarian Cancer, and Liver Cancer. The company expects to release preliminary data from its Cchek™ biomarker study in the coming weeks.
