Ivera Medical Announces New Patent for Curos Strip Issued by USPTO

SAN DIEGO, CA--(Marketwired - Sep 25, 2014) - Ivera Medical announced today that the United States Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) has issued a new continuation patent for its innovative Curos® disinfecting port protector technology on September 15, 2014. The recently issued U.S. Patent No. 8,834,650 is directed to a system of disinfecting caps for luer-activated valves that are attached to a strip of material.

"This long-awaited patent is another important part of our patent portfolio," said Bob Rogers, CEO of Ivera Medical. "We first conceived the idea of placing port protectors on a Strip in 2006 and with this new patent, our intellectual property position is further enhanced."

The Curos Strip is the most commonly used product for the market-leading Ivera Medical, and was developed to aid nurses by having the product hang from an IV pole bedside, so the product is where they need it, which helps increase compliance in using port protectors. "The Curos Strip is an example of Ivera's commitment to innovation, a commitment that has led to our leadership position in this field. We are focused on understanding the challenges faced by clinicians because only then can we develop solutions to overcome those challenges," said Mr. Rogers.
