JACKSONVILLE, FL--(Marketwire - Jun 15, 2011) - The Southside Animal Clinic, a leading Jacksonvillevet hospital located at 100 Arlington Rd South, will host its first official Open House this Saturday, June 18th. Jacksonville pet owners and their furry friends are invited to enjoy the festivities, tour the animal hospital and learn more about the basics of pet care. Southside Animal Clinic offers routine vet care services, including spay and neuter, vaccinations and annual check-ups. The veterinary clinic also provides emergency care, surgery, medical care and dental care. Pet owners can learn more about these vet services at the Open House, as well as enjoy games, prizes and complimentary refreshments.
This Saturday, June 18th, is the first official Open House for the SouthsideAnimal Clinic since the new ownership. The Open House will offer fun for the whole family, and includes raffle prizes, animal-themed grab bags, and animal art by local artist Laura Chester. Complimentary refreshments including hotdogs, hamburgers and refreshing drinks to beat the heat will be available.
Children will be able to interact with live animals, including goats, a donkey, tortoises and other creatures. To the delight of young children, Yogi Bear is also scheduled to be in attendance.
The "Bark Busters" team will be on hand to provide pet behavior demonstrations on the how-to's of raising your pup. The vet team will be giving away prizes for the best pet costumes and there will be designated "cooloff zones" for canine play.
"Our open house is an important event for our animal clinic because it gives us the chance to get to know local pet owners, let them tour our facility, and have some fun. We also are including some educational aspects to the open house designed for pet owners to learn more about specific aspects of pet health and wellness," said Dr. Tim Holloway.
Dr. Holloway himself will be a big participant in Saturday's Open House. He is scheduled to be featured in the "Dunk the Doc" Dunking Booth.
The Open House will offer a unique opportunity for Jacksonville pet owners to get a behind-the-scenes look at how a vet clinic operates. Pet owners will be able to get a first-hand glimpse at the high-tech equipment used for surgery, ultrasonography and x-rays.
Saturday's Open House is also an opportunity for the Southside veterinary team to increase awareness about the importance of routine pet care.
"All too often, pet owners wait until their dog or cat is experiencing a health emergency before they seek treatment," said Dr. Tim Holloway. "Annual and semi-annual examinations are critical for monitoring the health of your pet. Just like treating heart disease or cancer in humans, prevention is truly the best medicine."
Pet owners will receive tips on basic pet care, courtesy of Science Diet and Bayer Animal Health. These tips include easy wellness steps owners can take at home -- such as pet dental care and grooming -- that will keep their pets healthy and active.
