Jacksonville Dental Office Adds New Dental Hygienist

JACKSONVILLE, AR--(Marketwired - June 19, 2015) - A leading Jacksonville dentist trained in dental implants has hired a new dental hygienist at his growing practice.

Dr. Ted Pinney, who operates Complete Family Dentistry, recently announced that Claire Akins began with the practice earlier this month. With the addition of Akins, Dr. Pinney will increase the availability of dental hygiene appointments and be able to serve more patients.

"Adding Claire to our staff will make it easier on patients scheduling their regular, six-month checkups," Dr. Pinney said. "Our patients already have commented on her professionalism and gentle demeanor."

Akins was born and raised in the Jacksonville community and grew up in a dental family -- her mother and sister are both in the dental field. As a dental hygienist, Akins is responsible for cleaning patients’ teeth, informing patients of proper oral health care and working alongside Dr. Pinney to provide aggressive preventive and general care. Akins also will take a role in organizing community outreach programs to better educate the public about the importance of proper oral health.

"She has a passion and love for helping others that will greatly benefit our patients and the rest of the practice," Dr. Pinney said.

Complete Family Dentistry offers preventive dentistry, pediatric dentistry, restorative dentistry, endodontics, short-term orthodontics and implant dentistry. Dr. Pinney’s dental implants are made from titanium and naturally fuse to the jawbone, offering patients optimal support for a permanent restoration. Dental implants can be restored with an individual crown, bridge or denture.

Dr. Pinney, a North Little Rock, Ark., native, is a third-generation dentist who graduated from the University of Tennessee School of Dentistry in Memphis in 2004. In dental school, Dr. Pinney completed courses in endodontics and has completed continuing education courses in Invisalign and Lumineers veneers. He worked with his father, Dr. Joe Pinney, as an associate dentist -- and at a pediatric practice -- for two years before purchasing his own practice in 2006. Skilled in working with children, Dr. Pinney recommends that parents bring their children to his office by the time they are 2 years old. Sending children to the dentist early on in their life cuts down on the risk of tooth decay but also gets children comfortable with a dental office.

Dr. Pinney is a member of the Arkansas State Dental Association, Central District Dental Society, Academy of General Dentistry and the American Dental Association. Dr. Pinney is dedicated to serving his community and supports Arkansas Children’s Hospital and local high school athletic teams.

Dr. Pinney’s practice partner, Dr. Joran Rodriguez, is a 1980 graduate of Ohio State College of Dentistry and certified by the American Dental Association.
