Jacksonville Port Authority Selects AtHoc IWSAlerts for Its Fully Integrated Emergency Mass Communications System

Port to Leverage Same Modern Technologies in Use Today by the Department of Homeland Security at the Majority of U.S. Ports and Airports

SAN MATEO, CA--(Marketwire - Mar 13, 2012) - AtHoc, Inc., the pioneer and leader in network-centric emergency mass notification systems, today announced that the Jacksonville Port Authority (JAXPORT) has selected AtHoc IWSAlerts™ enterprise edition to meet its emergency communications/notification requirements. AtHoc's network and telephony alerting capabilities will integrate with social networks, giant voice/outdoor public address systems, and digital signage to speed emergency notifications across the port.

Using the AtHoc web-based console, operators will be able to quickly communicate with first responders, local government, U.S. Army and commercial and cruise line users at the three main terminals (Blount Island Marine Terminal, the Dames Point Marine Terminal and the Talleyrand Marine Terminal). These terminals handled a total of 8.1 million tons of cargo and more than 520,000 vehicles in fiscal year 2011, making JAXPORT the second largest import and export automobile center in the U.S. In addition, the port houses Carnival Cruise Lines as well as ferry service that operates across the St. John River.

"In selecting our fully integrated emergency communications system, JAXPORT is in step with the rapid expansion of AtHoc into ports and airports, where protection of the lives of personnel, law enforcement, and tourists is at stake," said James Hickey, AtHoc Director of Operations, Marines, Intel, Guard. "Recent deployment by the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) across 50 USCG ports and by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) at 45 airports nationwide is making AtHoc a standard for emergency mass notification, personnel accountability, and situational awareness to protect both public and private concerns."
