Jacobs Receives Design Contract for Upgrade of N6 in Central Ireland

PASADENA, Calif.--(CCNMatthews - Sep 27, 2005) -

Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (NYSE:JEC) announced today that a subsidiary company has received a contract from Ireland's National Roads Authority to provide design services on the project to upgrade the N6 between Kinnegad and Kilbeggan in central Ireland.

Officials estimate the value of the project at $137 million.

Jacobs is providing detailed design services and site supervision input in support of the project's civil engineering contractor, Ascon Ltd. The project involves the construction of 28 kilometers of dual carriageway, 18 bridges, associated side roads, and three grade-separated junctions.

Jacobs' design team of approximately 50 people is executing the work in Glasgow, with additional support from other Jacobs offices in the U.K. and Ireland. Jacobs also has an on-site team of nine people.

In making the announcement, Jacobs Group Vice President Bill Mitchell stated, "We are delighted to work with Ascon Ltd. on this project to improve the transportation infrastructure of central Ireland. This contract is particularly significant because it represents our first major success in the emerging Irish highways 'design and construct' market. Work is already under way or due to commence shortly on four additional projects with Ascon Ltd., each of which has a project value in excess of $124 million."

Jacobs, with over 35,000 employees and revenues exceeding $5.0 billion, provides technical, professional, and construction services globally.
