Jafari Facebook Contest Brings Sugar-Free Dessert Recipes to Diabetics

BOSTON, MA--(Marketwired - Dec 20, 2013) - Drawing on their deep knowledge and understanding of the challenges diabetics face when it comes to diet, Jafari Medical Supply recently sponsored a Facebook contest with the goal of collecting diabetic-friendly dessert recipes. The response was overwhelmingly positive, with submissions coming in from all across the country, the best of which have been immortalized in a downloadable recipe e-book for everyone to enjoy.

"We know that one of the hardest things for diabetics to give up is dessert," said Robert Jafari, owner of Jafari Medical Supply, a consumer-driven website focused on providing health care consumables to medical facilities, caregivers, and individuals. "We wanted to find a way to give people dealing with diabetes some options when it came to sweets, and this contest fit the bill perfectly."

Among the sugar-free recipes that made it into the book were Cake in a Cup, Diabetic Tiramisu, Yum Yum Pie, and Pumpkin Patch Delight. Each recipe substitutes an artificial sweetener like Splenda, or avoids the use of sugar altogether. The winner, chosen by Robert Jafari himself, was Wendy Posella. She will receive a $500 VISA gift card as the grand prize.

"At this time of year, especially, desserts are everywhere," Mr. Jafari continued. "We're happy to provide options for diabetics and their families that are both delicious and safe."
