J.A.G. Mines Ltd. Extends the Aubelle Main Zone on Surface and Announces the Start of a 4000m Diamond Drill Program at the Belleterre Gold Property in Quebec

Channel samples include 22.0 gAu/t over 1.4m and 16.8 gAu/t over 0.60m

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Dec. 18, 2008) - J.A.G. Mines Ltd. - ('JAG' - the 'Company') (TSX VENTURE:JML) is pleased to announce the results from a surface trenching and channel sampling program on its 100% owned Belleterre Project in the Temiscaming region of Quebec. The 1152 hectare property contains over 12 showings with one of the most important being the Aubelle Main Zone. This zone has seen historic activity from 1945 to the present which included some development work and underground drifting in 1956. JAG mines Ltd has been able to delineate the Aubelle Main zone for a strike length of over 800m with surface trenching and diamond core drilling. A 4000m diamond drilling program has commenced on the property in order to follow up positive results from the previous program (See press release dated September 23, 2008). This drill program and trenching program is part of a $400,000 exploration program under the supervision of Dr. Mehmet F. TANER, P.Geo., Ph.D.

The trenching and channel sampling program systematically investigated a 140 m long trench at the eastern end of the Aubelle Main Zone. The Aubelle Main Zone consists of a strong biotite and carbonate rich shear zone, up to 3m wide, with quartz, pyrite, chalcopyrite, sphalerite and galena. The shear trend is generally at 110 to 120 degrees with occasional minor splays at 90 to 100 degrees. The best intersections from the channel sampling included 10.9 gAu/t over 2.90m (including 22.0 gAu/t over 1.40m), 8.06 gAu/t over 1.40m (including16.8 gAu/t over 0.60m), 6.89 gAu/t over 1.0m, 4.25 gAu/t over 2.80m and 3.06 gAu/t over 1.10m. (See table below for highlights and www.jagmines.com/press20081212.html). A total of 93 samples were taken from the trench. Samples were analyzed for gold at the ALS Chemex Laboratory in Val d'Or, Quebec, using Au-AA24 (Au by fire assay and AAS, 50 g nominal sample weight, with precision between 0.005 to 10 ppm). Samples returning values greater than 10ppm were analysed by gravimetric determination.

The 4000m drilling program consists of 20 targets on the Aubelle Main Zone, designed to investigate the eastern extension of the zone, beneath the high grade trench channel samples and down plunge of previous drill holes results. The average hole length is about 200m. The program is expected to be completed before the end of 2008 with results available early in the New Year.
