Jaguars Quarterback Blaine Gabbert to Serve as Captain of the 3rd Annual McKenzie's Run

JACKSONVILLE, FL--(Marketwire - Oct 25, 2012) -  Jacksonville Jaguar's star quarterback Blaine Gabbert will lead runners and walkers in the 3rd annual McKenzie's Run on November 10, 2012, starting at 9 a.m. at EverBank Field, The McKenzie Noelle Wilson Foundation announced today.

"I'm very excited and honored to serve as captain of this year's McKenzie's Run," Gabbert said. "The foundation is doing such important work as they bring together and mobilize young people to care for others. As a quarterback, I know and value the importance of teamwork, and it's that spirit of working together to support each other that makes me so proud to be part of this event and The McKenzie Noelle Wilson Foundation."

The annual all-ages event benefits The McKenzie Noelle Wilson Foundation, a nonprofit organization that unites and mobilizes young people throughout our community to care for others and give to those in need, both locally and globally. Locally, the foundation operates two McKenzie's Academic Resource Centers, with the help of teen and teacher volunteers. The resource centers provide free mentoring and academic programs to over 250 elementary, middle and high school students living in two Jacksonville communities. Globally, the foundation has built two orphanages in Uganda, Africa. The orphanages, called Amaka ga McKenzie -- Lugandan for McKenzie's Home -- care for 40 boys and girls. Construction is currently underway to build a new orphanage for 35 abandoned babies in Uganda.

McKenzie's Run is a 5K run and walk with a 1 mile fun run through downtown Jacksonville that finishes inside EverBank Field, where participants can watch themselves cross the finish line on the JumboTron. Immediately following the run there will be a celebration with live music, games, face painting, awards, an appearance by the Jaguar's mascot, Jaxson de Ville, and an autograph signing by Jaguar's ROAR Cheerleaders.

Participants can run or walk in this family-friendly event. And by signing up with a team of three or more people, the cost of registration is only $15 per person. To register for the event, and for more information, please visit www.mckenziesrun.org.

The 2012 McKenzie's Run is sponsored by EverBank, The Players Championship, Lender Processing Services, Acosta, PricewaterhouseCoopers and the law firm of Akerman Senterfit.
