Jameel McCline for Congress: Survival and Redemption Lead to Passion for Educating and Empowering All Americans

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL--(Marketwired - Aug 21, 2014) - Jameel McCline, candidate for Florida's 20th Congressional District, today addressed his personal story of survival and redemption, starting on the streets of Harlem. At age 7, McCline's mother, a struggling single mother of five kids, gave him up to the State of New York where he spent his youth in orphanages and foster homes.

"I had a very emotionally and physically difficult childhood and young adulthood that resulted in prison, addiction issues and recent bankruptcy," said McCline. "But I survived, became a heavyweight champion, a television commentator and business owner. My early struggles will never leave me and they empower me to fight for justice."

McCline's platform in his run for Congress includes increasing the minimum wage, prison reform (education over incarceration) and economic development and jobs in the District. "The people of District 20 have been left behind. I am running on the premise of education, employment and empowerment, not only for the voters in District 20, but for all Americans."
