James Low, C.M.
Kingston, Ontario
Member of the Order of Canada

James Low has made important and lasting contributions to the history of medicine in Canada. A professor emeritus of obstetrics and gynecology at Queen's University, he discovered that hospital archives and artifacts were slowly being mothballed. To preserve these records, he founded the Museum of Health Care, which exhibits and explains our health care history through virtual and physical collections. He also led the development of the Coalition of Canadian Healthcare Museums and Archives, a national network that advances our understanding of health care legacies.
