James Tyree Foundation Awards 2014 Grants to Eleven Chicago Non-Profit Organizations Making a Difference Through Innovation in Education and Health Care

CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwired - Nov 17, 2014) -  The James Tyree Foundation today announced it has awarded $500,000 in grants to eleven non-profit organizations that serve Chicago-area youth.

Terri Noon, executive director of the foundation named for late Chicago business and civic leader Jim Tyree, said this year's grant recipients are shining examples of the foundation's core mission: to advance innovative educational efforts in academics and health care.

"The goals of our grant-award process include partnering with innovative leaders that redefine traditional education; supporting educational approaches that advance cognitive, physical and emotional health; and providing a foundation for educators to build progressive programs that improve participants' lives today and into the future."

Eve Tyree, founder and chairman of the foundation, added: "We are thrilled that this year's grantees include a mix of innovators we have supported in the past, as well as some very exciting programs that we welcome into our foundation family for the first time. Jim believed in the power of education and the importance of providing every young person with every possible opportunity for success. They are our future, and we are fortunate to help them along the way."
