Jamison Monroe Jr. Receives the Distinguished Mona Mansell Award -- Freedom Institute's Highest Honor

Recognized as One of the Addiction Field's Most Prolific Agents of Change, Newport Academy's Founder and CEO Jamison Monroe Jr. Honored at Freedom Institute's Spring Gala

NEWPORT BEACH, CA--(Marketwired - Apr 3, 2014) - The Newport Academy community is thrilled to announce that founder and CEO Jamison Monroe Jr. has been awarded Freedom Institute's highest honor, the 2014 Mona Mansell Award. Founded in 1976 by Mona Mansell, Freedom Institute has risen to become the gold standard in addiction treatment and each year honors the individuals and organizations that have had a significant impact on the field of substance abuse prevention, treatment, and education with their highest honors. This year, Jamison Monroe Jr. will be honored at Freedom Institute's Spring Gala on April 7th at The St. Regis New York.

Recognized internationally as one of the addiction field's youngest and most prolific agents of change, Jamison Monroe Jr. began with a vision for advanced adolescent treatment and quickly built Newport Academy, which has grown from a single facility in Southern California to one of the most respected treatment brands in the country, with inpatient adolescent treatment facilities open in multiple locations. Jamison launched The Newport Academy Day School in 2010, which is a state-of-the-art education model designed specifically for teens committed to remaining abstinent from alcohol and other drugs, who want to break free from the deadly cycle of addiction, while acquiring the tools necessary to flourish in a structured academic setting. Beyond the Newport Academy brand, Monroe's critically acclaimed documentary, "Behind The Orange Curtain," has been recognized as one of the most important addiction-related documentaries to date and certainly solidifies Monroe's agent of change status.

"What a true honor it is to be recognized as an agent of change by one of the industry's most respected organizations and receive an award named after Mona Mansell, a true addiction pioneer. I can't even begin to articulate the gratitude I have for being recognized by Freedom Institute; however, we have a great deal of work to do before any of us have a chance to celebrate; addiction is winning the battle, but we will win the war," said Jamison Monroe, Founder of Newport Academy.
