Japanese Telco KDDI Selects Ensim Unify to Provide SaaS Offering

Unify Speeds Time-to-Market and Reduces Operational Costs

SANTA CLARA, CA--(Marketwire - March 3, 2008) - Ensim, the leading provider of management software for unified communications infrastructure, today announced that KDDI, one of the world's largest information and communications companies, has selected Ensim Unify as its platform of choice for delivering its SaaS offerings. Ensim Unify provides an open and extensible architecture that allows KDDI to go to market quickly with Hosted Exchange and SharePoint, while still accommodating future applications.

KDDI provides fixed and mobile communications services to nearly thirty million subscribers throughout Japan, and offers SaaS-based business communication-ware service accessible from both PC and cellular devices. With the rising demand for SaaS-based offerings and the complex infrastructure required to deliver such solutions, KDDI has selected Ensim Unify as its provisioning component for all hosted services. Ensim Unify provides KDDI with the ability to provision users, applications and devices via a single management portal through its proven, carrier-grade solution.

"After considering several other offerings, including developing our own platform, we found that Ensim was the only company that could provide a comprehensive solution that would enable us to jump start our entry into the SaaS market," said Yasuhisa Yamada, general manager, mobile solution product development department, solution product planning sector of KDDI. "By using a mature, pre-built solution such as Unify, KDDI eliminated the need to invest a lot of time and engineering skills to roll out new offerings and can thus offer solutions at a greatly reduced cost."

Ensim Unify allows providers and ISVs to centrally create, control and deliver applications as a service. With more than a dozen pre-integrated service managers for services such as Hosted Exchange 2007, SharePoint, Microsoft Dynamics Hosted CRM and BlackBerry, Unify delivers a complete provisioning solution for the management and automation of services under a hosted infrastructure. This enables carriers and ISVs to rapidly create, deliver and bundle revenue-generating hosted services, with the added advantage of being able to expand service offerings and integrate new applications at any time.

"We are honored to be chosen as KDDI's platform for its SaaS offering, and pleased to expand our Unify customer base in Japan," said David Wippich, CEO of Ensim. "Transitioning to a SaaS model is critical to gaining market share. Unify's uniquely scalable and extensible architecture enables providers like KDDI to rapidly roll out new revenue-generating services without incurring significant costs, while also expanding the opportunity to easily create new applications and deliver them as a hosted service."

"KDDI's new service is an advanced solution that shows efficient use of corporate resources to all of our business users," said Hiroaki Nagare, CEO of Fivefront Corporation. "I believe that KDDI's new SaaS-based solution should be a cornerstone of IT strategies for all enterprises, and I expect the new service to contribute to greater enterprise growth by providing a highly convenient and economic advantage."
