Japan's IDC Frontier Selects HP to Tap Into the Cloud

Data Center Provider Deploys HP Networking Solutions Within Latest Cloud Services

PALO ALTO, CA--(Marketwire - Mar 13, 2012) - HP (NYSE: HPQ) today announced that IDC Frontier, a leading data-center provider in Japan, has selected HP Networking solutions to enhance its network infrastructure to meet increasing demand for cloud services.

A pioneer in the data center industry, IDC Frontier has provided public cloud services to Japanese organizations since 2009. Over this time, the company has experienced tremendous growth in the number of its cloud services customers, which has put a strain on its existing IT systems.

IDC Frontier needed to enhance its network infrastructure to accommodate more users for its new on-demand public cloud offering, NOAH Self Type. The company selected the HP 5820 Switch Series for its capability to scale seamlessly, enabling increased network bandwidth across its nine data centers throughout Japan.

"We needed to upgrade our existing network to keep pace with the growing market for cloud computing throughout Japan," said Yutaka Shindo, director, IDC Frontier. "HP Networking switches provide a solid foundation for us to expand our infrastructure and meet the needs of customers looking to deploy cloud services in the country."

IDC Frontier connected its data centers using the HP Intelligent Resilient Framework, an HP virtualization technology that allows multiple switches to operate as a single switch. By simplifying network operation, the framework helps IDC Frontier provide more direct, high-capacity connections to meet customer demand.

HP's premier client event, HP Discover, takes place June 4-7 in Las Vegas.
