Jason Mraz to Perform Special Shows to Thank Fans; "songs for friends" Set to Kick Off July 17 in Chicago

NEW YORK, NY -- (MARKET WIRE) -- June 22, 2006 --Atlantic Records recording artist Jason Mraz has announced exclusively to his street team and fans details for a handful of upcoming shows called "songs for friends." "songs for friends" will consist of only four acoustic shows, showcasing material Mraz normally doesn't play during his concerts as well as songs from his early coffee shop days along with some new songs. These shows will be a rare chance for fans to see Jason in an up-close, intimate environment and is an opportunity for him to thank his fans for their dedication and support.

"songs for friends" kicks off on July 17th in Chicago at Schubas Tavern with a second Schubas show on July 19th and will be followed by stops in New York City on July 21st at Irving Plaza and Saratoga, CA on July 24th at The Garden Theatre. Jason will perform solo acoustic for the two Chicago dates as well as New York City while the Saratoga date will feature a full acoustic band. Tickets for these shows go on sale June 22nd.

"The June 2nd Journal Entry from jasonmraz.com not only suggested a show at Schubas in Chicago, it published a promise I made to myself to go back to my roots, pay tribute to the present, and acknowledge the future of my fanship to music," says Mraz. Mraz's current album, "MR. A-Z," which was released in July 2005, debuted at #5 on the Billboard 200 and is the follow up to the RIAA platinum-certified, "WAITING FOR MY ROCKET TO COME." "MR. A-Z" was produced by Steve Lilywhite (U2, Dave Matthews Band) and features the singles "Wordplay" and "Geek In The Pink." Jason spent the better of the last year on the road performing SRO shows throughout the US, Europe, Australia and Japan in support of "MR. A-Z."
