JasperSoft Selects SourceForge® Enterprise Edition for Its Newly Launched JasperForge.org Community Portal

Complete Suite of Tools for Creating Vibrant Development Communities

FREMONT, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- November 14, 2006 -- VA Software Corporation (NASDAQ: LNUX) today announced that open source business intelligence software developer JasperSoft Corporation is using SourceForge Enterprise Edition (SFEE) to power JasperForge.org, its new community portal. JasperForge.org will serve as the nexus of the JasperSoft development ecosystem, leveraging SFEE's platform plus a special functional connection to the SourceForge.net® community to enable collaboration by developers, partners, independent software vendors (ISVs), and system integrators.

"The success of JasperReports and the iReport visual report designer on SourceForge.net, with more than 800,000 downloads for JasperReports, over 1.6 million downloads of the entire JasperIntelligence family, and a run rate in excess of 100,000 downloads a month, tells us that business intelligence is an integral component of the IT infrastructure layer. We needed to build a destination site where all of our constituencies can harness each other's knowledge and expertise, and where we can easily share updates with our open source and partner communities," said Paul Doscher, CEO of JasperSoft. "SourceForge Enterprise Edition was the only solution we found that could support all of the functions we required, including smooth integration with our SourceForge.net-hosted projects."

SFEE is a scalable collaborative software development application for managing distributed development communities. With SFEE, software companies can build branded development communities that are tightly linked to SourceForge.net, the world's largest open source web site for collaboration. This built-in bridge to the SourceForge.net open source community allows customers to support a truly inclusive development ecosystem that benefits all parties.

With the integration between SFEE and SourgeForge.net, any project activity rankings and statistics on a SFEE-based portal can be captured in SourceForge.net metrics. In the case of JasperForge.org, for example, statistics relating to version control, artifact, forum discussion, release, download or other project-related activity done on JasperForge.org are captured on the corresponding SourceForge.net project. This allows project activity, whether on SFEE-licensed communities or on SourceForge.net, to be accurately reflected in a particular project's position on the SourceForge.net project activity ranking table.

"Companies like JasperSoft who wish to continue to leverage their involvement with the open source community and SourceForge.net in particular, are realizing they can build a separately branded yet connected development environment that supports the efforts of their open source communities," said Darryll Dewan, group president SourceForge Enterprise, VA Software. "Until now we haven't offered the right software or services to accomplish this. Now with SourceForge Enterprise Edition, any company can create development environments or private 'forges' that suit their unique needs, promote their own brands, and keeps them connected with the SourceForge.net community."

SFEE enables organizations to overcome the challenges of geographically distributed development. SFEE is a secure, centralized application that connects disparate tools and processes together with an integrated suite of project management, change management and collaboration tools for optimizing and managing distributed development, expanding visibility and control, improving development efficiency, and empowering greater collaboration and innovation.
