JCCM applauds Quebec government's commitment to the OSM

MONTREAL, June 28 - The Jeune Chambre de commerce de Montréal (JCCM) applauds the Quebec government's decision to dedicate a new concert hall to the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal (OSM), a venue equal to
the Orchestra's reputation.

"Located at the core of the Quartier des spectacles, the OSM concert hall will allow for a better showcase of Montreal's talent and know-how. With this announcement, the Quebec government, the city of Montreal, and their partners from the private sector, are confirming their unfailing commitment to the development and promotion of culture," said France-Eliane Nolet, President of the JCCM.

"The JCCM sees this job-creating project as a great opportunity to reinforce the cultural role and influence of Montreal. The JCCM published a brief in December 2005 on Montreal's competitiveness and this is a project that is in line with our position: The realization of this project with a public-private partnership will ensure a better management of costs and delays and will allow for innovation in public cultural infrastructures by maximizing the involvement of the private sector," said the JCCM President.

The JCCM supports the realization of this project in respect to the highest LEED standard of environmental quality and hopes that other innovative architectural projects will be developed. It calls upon all political parties to support the project in case a change in provincial or municipal government would cause its reevaluation.
